Land O Lakes Honey Butter: Yeah, It’s That Good.

Y’all, I’m not going to drag this one out. This product has been around for years and I’m just now coming around to it. I know there are some folks who probably have their own snazzy recipe for honey butter that’s been passed down through the generations, but for the rest of us – good news! Lake O Lakes Honey Butter spread is sweet, delicious, and all the work has been done already. All we gotta do is show up and eat.

Which I am very good at.

Where to Find It:

A quick Google search shows that this item is available nearly everywhere – from Kroger to Walmart, and even Amazon. It’s not some limited edition/temporary flavor – a few folks on Reddit have been talking about this product for at least 3 years – so there’s no rush to run out and grab a tub if you haven’t tried it yet.

I saw it at Aldi during a mad dash to grab a few things before the weekend crowd barreled through. I was out of butter, it was cheap (around $1.99), and my brain tried to justify the purchase by saying, “Eh, how sweet can it really be? Probably just a faint taste of honey, who cares.”

It was NOT a faint taste of honey, honey.

Land O Lakes Honey Butter – A Nice Lil’ Sweet Treat

Oh honey!

This stuff is sweet, sweet. No way would I be brave enough to substitute this for normal butter (like I was foolishly expecting), but my God! Throw some of this on some biscuits? Divine. Add it to some of our dessert recipes? Yes! Butter toast with cinnamon on top? A childhood staple, with a lil’ upgrade!

Or, if you’re like me, you can slap it on some toast and pair it with some honey goat cheese (also from Aldi) and enjoy a sweet and savory snack. It’s spreadable and actually pretty thin, and a little goes a looong way!

However, at about 70 calories, 2.5 grams of saturated fat, and some added sugars, the healthier option would be just some unflavored butter with a drizzle of real honey over top – after all, honey is a natural sweetener and doesn’t have an expiration date like butter does. But, if you’re in the mood to indulge, this is a tasty option. Everything in moderation!

But if You’re Not a Fan of Honey Butter…

Don’t fret! Apparently our pals over at Land O Lakes have been experimenting with some pretty awesome flavors, including garlic and herb, cinnamon sugar, pumpkin spice (yay!), and maple (the last two being listed as “limited batch” flavors).

The Verdict

Again, a no-brainer! Let’s get into my final thoughts.

Taste: 9.7/10 – UH-MAZE-ING! It’s so good, y’all – rich, sweet, and a tinge of saltiness in there too. It makes for a great spread over toast or biscuits. A small deduction because it really, really is sweet. This isn’t some “essence” of honey. No. This is legit.

Value: 10/10 – Granted, this is a smaller tub of butter than usual, but I imagine since it’s technically a spread, it’s not meant for literally everything (you heathens). At Aldi, I nabbed this precious baby for $1.99, which seems pretty comparable to Kroger, Meijer, and Walmart. I figured it was a small price to pay in case I didn’t like it, or didn’t use the entire tub before it went bad.

Overall: 9.85/10

Have Y’all Tried This?

Not much to report here, folks. Either y’all like butter, or you don’t. And, if you’re looking for something a little sweet to spruce up some desserts, toast, or biscuits, the Land O Lakes Honey Butter spread might just be a winner!

Until next time,

Megan
